SouthSudan Hero

South Sudan is a landlocked country of around 12 million people in East Africa straddling the White Nile River. Formerly the ethnically African portion of the Republic of the Sudan, South Sudan gained its independence in 2011 after two bloody civil wars lasting through most of the second half of the 20th century. It is currently engaged in another civil conflict, but the people remain optimistic about the future – and are eager to do the work to rebuild and develop their country.
